Mechanical Bin Activator

For materials that do not respond well to aeration (granular products, pellets, moist materials), the mechanical bin activator provides a reliable alternative. A heavy-duty vibrating ring or plate mounted at the silo outlet transmits controlled vibration into the material mass, breaking arches and promoting flow.

Operating Principle

The bin activator consists of a conical or flat vibrating element suspended from the silo outlet by flexible mounts. An unbalanced motor generates vibration at 1,500-3,600 RPM, creating shear forces that overcome the material's cohesive strength. The vibration frequency and amplitude are adjustable to match different material properties.

Applications

  • Granular materials: sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag
  • Moist materials: wet coal, clay, filter cake
  • Sticky materials: biomass, wood chips, sugar
  • Large-particle materials: pellets, briquettes, wood shavings

Installation

Bin activators are installed directly beneath the flat bottom outlet, replacing the need for a conical hopper. This reduces the required silo height by 3-5 meters, significantly cutting construction costs for tall silos.
