CHN Energy needed to replace open coal stockpiles at their 2x660MW power plant with enclosed storage to comply with new air quality regulations.
Solution Design
- Silo: 40m diameter x 35m height, flat bottom with multi-point screw reclaimer
- Fire prevention: CO monitoring, temperature sensors, N2 inerting, water spray
- Discharge: 16-point screw reclaimer grid, 1,000 tph reclaim rate
- Control: Integrated with plant DCS for seamless coal feed
Outcome
- Dust emissions reduced by 98%
- Coal loss from weather reduced from 3% to less than 0.1%
- Zero self-ignition incidents in 2 years
- ROI achieved in 3.5 years
