Dilute Phase Pneumatic Conveying System
Dilute phase (lean phase) pneumatic conveying suspends material in a high-velocity air stream (15-30 m/s), transporting it through pipelines in a continuous flow. This is the simplest and most flexible pneumatic conveying method, suitable for a wide range of non-abrasive materials where gentle handling is not the primary concern.
System Types
- Positive pressure: Blower pushes material from a rotary valve or pressure vessel. Best for single-source, multiple-destination layouts.
- Vacuum (negative pressure): Exhauster creates suction at the receiving end. Best for multiple-source, single-destination layouts. Inherently dust-free since any leaks are inward.
- Combination (push-pull): Combines positive pressure and vacuum for long distances or complex routing.
Best Applications
- Grain transfer between storage silos
- Plastic pellets and resin transport
- Food-grade material handling (enclosed, hygienic design)
- Short-distance transfers (<100m) where simplicity outweighs energy cost
